A short book review!
I am currently in the process of losing weight. I got this book in hopes of learning more about vegetarianism.
I figured if i could introduce some vegetarian habits or recipes in my daily routine that it would help me in the process of losing weight.
I really enjoyed reading this book! I loved the way the chapters were broken down. It begins with how being a vegetarian will help you lose weight, then tells you the difference between vegetarianism and veganism. A vegan does not eat ANY animal products, not even milk or eggs. While, vegetarieans will sometimes eat eggs, drink milk or even fish! Next, it explains the health benefits of a vegetarian diet. Explaining that about 70% of all diseases are caused by your diet. WOW!!! I learned a BUNCH from just those two chapters!
The next chapters you learn about which foods to avoid and which to eat. For example, Grains are VERY important in a Vegetarian diet. Also there are some things you need to keep an eye out for while shopping. For example, some tortilla chips contain animal products. WOW! I would never have guessed! As you continue reading it tells you different sources to get vitamins and proteins as a vegetarian or vegan. For example, you can get proteins from tofu, beans, lentils, chickpeas etc.
The largest portion of the book is a TON of yummy looking recipes for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner!
Yummy recipes like Soy Pocket Eggs, Warm Squash Salad, and Zucchini Mushroom Lasagna! YUM!!!
They talk about why microwaving food is bad for you and exercise. To finish the book they give tips on how to transition into the vegetarian diet, give tips on eating out as a vegetarian and tips for successful vegetarian weight loss.
I probably wont transition to be a vegetarian but it was extremely fun to learn about the vegetarian lifestyle. I will definitely be cooking a BUNCH of the recipes in this book!
I definitely would recommend reading this book!
