E-Book - A Father for Christmas (A Holiday Romance)

I have to apologize for taking so long to post this review. I had posted the intro to this book, who knows how long ago. It has been a very busy end of the year! I cannot believe it is already 2015, crazy how time flies! I also have to apologize for this review, it is going to be short. Not only will it be short, but I am also going to quickly summarize. I won’t go too much into detail. Additionally, as I do with every book review, I will not be spoiling the ending.

I will start off by saying Rachelle Ayala is currently my favorite author. I have read her other book Knowing Vera and it was amazing work. To be completely honest, since I never mention the ending of books, I figured I could read about halfway through and then post my review. HAH! That totally did not go as planned! I got sucked into this book, I started reading it early this evening and it is 1:00 am and I just finished the book. For the life of me I could NOT put the book (my new kindle) down!

It is Christmas time and Kelly is at the mall with her daughter Bree. Bree decides she wants to see Santa at the mall. She sits on Santa's lap and he asks her what she wants for Christmas. Bree could have asked for a nice dolly, a cute puppy, or even a pretty princess doll house, but instead she asks for a papa for Christmas. Bree's mom is embarrassed and fumbles for her camera to take a photo, unfortunately it dies before she can do so.

Ever since she lost her job at the bank, they have been crunched for money. She cannot afford the pricy Santa pictures, but can afford a nice train ride for Bree. While in line Kelly's mom text messages her. Once she looks up from replying to her mom's text, Kelly realizes Bree is GONE! In a panic she finds a security guard and the hunt for Bree begins.

Kelly is asked many questions in attempts of finding her daughter.  Since she conceived Bree thanks to an anonymous sperm donor and artificial insemination, she had no jealous boyfriends or ex-husbands. They asked if she had any enemies. Did she? She lost her job and spent 3 months in jail for insider trading. Who knows, maybe one of her co-workers she screwed out of a job held some grudge against her. Right now, all she cared about was her daughter. Wait! Look, on the screen! There she is!

Apparently Bree had seen a man sitting under a Christmas tree and thought it was Santa's gift to her, a papa. The man's name was Tyler and he was a homeless vet. Bree had gone to him to ask for a cookie and wanted to bring him (her Christmas gift) back to her mom. Unfortunately, once she got back to the line where her mom WAS, Bree realized she was gone. Tyler, was only attempting to help Bree find her mom again.

Once they caught up with Bree and Tyler, he was handcuffed for kidnapping. It was all a misunderstanding, but once everything was straightened out, Tyler was let go.  Kelly knew exactly who he was, Tyler was a famous football player but gave all his fame up to go fight the war. Good riddance she thought, I hope I never run into that grungy looking man again! Bree on the other hand didn't want him to go, insisting he was her new Papa from Santa.

Kelly's wish did not come true. While bringing ingredients to her mom’s place, she ran into that Tyler character again. It was obvious that this Tyler guy liked her, but she did NOT need a man in her life. Especially someone like Tyler, who is scarred from the war and suffers from PTSD and lucid flashbacks.

Will Kelly finally get to know Tyler for who he really is? Will Tyler get over his mental and emotional war scars? Will Bree get her Papa for Christmas?

  1. Thank you so much for your review. I had to chuckle at your summary. Yep, Kelly didn't get her wish initially, but then her wish changed. :) So glad you read to the end. I really appreciate it.
