Hudson Cast Iron Cleaner

A few years ago I visited my family who live north of us in the Panhandle of Fl. My dad apparently left some stuff there at my grandparents house when he went to law school. Among the items he left were some pots and pans, including two cast iron skillets. Both of those skillets, I claimed for myself. Haha! My dad reluctantly let me take them. I am so used to cleaning pots and pans with soap and water. I kind of feel bad I have been improperly treating these great cast iron skillets.

 Recently I was given the opportunity to review Hudson's cast iron cleaner. As you may know, you don't actually "clean" a cast iron skillet. A well maintained cast iron skillet is seasoned. This "cleaner", pretty much looks like a small square of chain mail. 

This allows you to properly clean the skillet and keep it well seasoned. Last week, I tried using this product; but my skillet was just so nasty at that point, I just resorted to using soap. I have been so busy work and getting ready to start the orthotics and prosthetics program at my community college in August, I have not had the time to tinker with this "chain mail" scrubber.

What I can tell you about this product, it is a very good quality product. Once I am able to finally figure out how to properly take care of a cast iron skillet, this product is going to be my best friend when doing dishes.

Ozeri Wine Accessories

I am not much of a wine drinker, but I like to have wine around for when I have guests over. Not too long ago, I tried out Ozeri's electric wine opener and absolutely love it! Recently I was given the opportunity to try their wine accessory kit. 
                                                         

When I took this out of the packaging my husband immediately wanted to know what it was. It is obviously not a bottle of wine, yet it is shaped like a bottle of wine. The kit comes with a cork corkscrew, foil cutter, a wine stopper, a drip stopper, and a wine pourer with a stopper.

I absolutely love this wine kit! Everything in the kit is great quality and works really well. The shape of it is extremely smart! You can put it in a wine rack with your wine bottles. Everything within arms reach, when you need to pop open a bottle of wine!

I am in the process of trying to buy a home. Unfortunately the one our offer was accepted on, fell through and the one we just recently offered on, someone else got.Once we are in a house, we will be getting a wine rack and this accessory set will finally have a "home". For now, I will just enjoy using the kit in my apartment.
